Wigan Beer Company, a drinks wholesaler serving pubs, bars, restaurants and hospitality venues across the North West, has been acquired by Manchester-based independent drinks wholesaler LWC Drinks for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition is described as a significant step in LWD’s ongoing commitment to strengthen its UK service, reach and operational capacity. The deal will also see the Wigan-based company’s Keegan’s operation in Holyhead join LWC.
LWC, which has 18 depots across England and Wales, says the deal will further enhance the support it can provide to customers across the North West and North Wales.
Wigan Beer Company and Keegan’s will continue to operate from their existing sites for the remainder of the year, ensuring continuity for customers and colleagues. From next year, LWC aims to integrate Wigan Beer Company’s operations into its depots in Knowsley and Leyland, while Keegan’s will continue to operate from its current Holyhead facility for the foreseeable future.
Ebrahim Mukadam, LWC Managing Director, said that the Wigan Beer Company team “have built an excellent reputation across the North West and North Wales, founded on strong customer relationships, outstanding service and a deep understanding of the hospitality sector.”
He continued: “This partnership reflects our shared commitment to supporting customers for the long term. By combining LWC’s national network and infrastructure with the local expertise and trusted relationships developed by Wigan Beer and Keegan’s, we will create an even stronger proposition for hospitality operators across both regions.”
Wigan Beer Company Managing Director Adam Jones said that LWC was “an organisation that shares our values and commitment to customer service” calling the company “a respected independent wholesaler with a strong reputation for supporting customers and investing in the future.”
He added: “We believe this partnership represents a positive opportunity for our customers, colleagues and supplier partners, while ensuring the personal service and relationships that have always been central to our success remain unchanged.”
In the year to April 30 2025, Wigan Beer Company Limited reported turnover of £26.6 million, up from £23.9 million a year earlier, while operating profit increased from £1.5 million to slightly under £2 million.
