Law firm VWV has announced the acquisition of a six-member legal advisory team from global professional services provider Vistra, in a deal that strengthens its specialist employment and corporate offering.
The team, which is led by Victoria McMeel, who joins as a partner, previously operated as a regulated law firm within the wider Vistra business. As the successor practice, all of the team’s existing legal work, including client matters and relationships, will transfer to VWV.
The team’s clients will continue to be advised by their existing lawyers, while benefitting from the added breadth and depth of the wider VWV practice.
The deal brings a wealth of experience into VWV, with McMeel, who trained at VWV prior to qualifying into the company’s Employment team, returning to lead the new group as an Employment Partner.
McMeel’s extensive expertise in employment spans matters from TUPE transfers and organisational change to complex exits.
Nicole Spurling also joins as a corporate partner, bringing over a decade in advising businesses, entrepreneurs and investors on transactions throughout the business lifecycle.
McMeel and Spurling are joined by Adam Wadsley (senior associate), Edward Smith (associate), Matthew Larkham (corporate onboarding officer) and Harvey Sprague (paralegal).
VWV Managing Partner Steven McGuigan said that the acquisition of Vistra’s UK legal advisory team reflects the firm’s “continued investment in building connected teams that put clients first.”
He continued: "Clients can be confident that they will receive the same high-quality, responsive service they are used to, now supported by the full resources of VWV."
Vistra’s Head of International Legal Services Alan Hughes added: "Our legal team has provided an exceptional service to clients over many years, and we wanted to ensure that continued without interruption.”
"In VWV, we have found a firm that shares our commitment to putting clients first. Clients can expect the same trusted advisers, the same dedication and a seamless transition. We are confident this move gives them access to an even broader range of specialist legal expertise for the future."
