A South Wales care home that provides elderly and specialist dementia care has been acquired by a regional provider. Ysguborwen Care Home in Aberdare, which provides care for up to 80 residents, has been purchased by Caron Group for an undisclosed price.
The care home occupies a three-storey converted property set within landscaped grounds on Llwydcoed Road. The majority of the site's bedrooms are equipped with en suite facilities, while there is also a purpose-built extension and a pamper room.
Ysguborwen Care Home was owned and operated by Josh Slator, whose portfolio originally comprised a pair of care homes in England and one in Wales. Following a strategic review of his portfolio, Slator decided to bring his Welsh care home to market in order to focus on the continued development and operation of his homes in England.
Following a confidential sale process with Oliver McCarthy at Christie & Co, the home was sold to Caron Group, the largest regional care provider in South Wales, which owns and operates 18 care homes across the country.
Former owner Josh Slator commented: "Having operated Ysguborwen successfully for a number of years, I felt the time was right to focus my attention on my homes in England. I am pleased to pass the home into the hands of Caron Group, who have an excellent reputation for providing quality care across South Wales."
