Hylomar, a Wigan-based manufacturer of sealing and adhesive materials, has been sold to US-based Chase Corporation by corporate compounder PHD Industrial Holdings. Hylomar has been operating for more than 60 years and its products are used in industries including automotive, power generation and white goods.
The company's product portfolio spans a range of high-performance sealing and adhesive materials, including non-setting gasketing and jointing compounds, anaerobic adhesives, silicone sealants, structural adhesives and sealing putties.
PHD Industrial Holdings uses an investor network to raise funds to invest in industrial businesses. The group first invested in Hylomar in 2017, with director Philip Price saying that, since then “the strength of the business, its products and brand” have developed significantly.
Price continued: "Its international footprint and market leading non-setting jointing compounds and sealants provide a strong platform for future growth and we are pleased that the business will be supported in this as part of Chase Corporation. Our long term investment model supports businesses to grow and develop over time whilst always being open to strategic opportunities such as this."
Calling the deal a “major milestone” in the company’s history, Hylomar Operations Director Lee Kelly said: "PHD Industrial Holdings have been an excellent partner for us. They have been an extremely supportive and patient investor and this has enabled us to develop our brand and product portfolio over a sustained period.”
"We now look forward to the exciting opportunities ahead as part of Chase Corporation, adding to their existing strong presence in specialty sealing and adhesive materials."
Massachusetts-headquartered Chase Corporation is a global leader in developing and manufacturing engineered materials for high-reliability applications.
