Stracatruc, a materials handling specialist backed by private equity firm YFM Equity Partners, has expanded with the acquisition of a Stockton-on-Tees based counterpart. The acquisition of Northern Handling Systems brings an established customer base, experience and a strong local presence into the company’s UK network.
Northern Handling Systems provides customers across the North East with forklift trucks, sideloaders and associated support services. The acquisition provides the company’s customer base with access to the wider range of materials handling equipment and nationwide support infrastructure offered by Stracatruc.
Post-acquisition, operations will continue as normal for Northern Handling Systems’ customers, while benefitting from the added backing of the larger firm’s broader range of services, stockholding and nationwide engineering network.
Stracatruc Chief Executive Paul Vousden described Northern Handling Systems as a firm with “a strong reputation and established customer base in the North East” and said the company would seek to build on its existing strengths, retaining its local knowledge and customer relationships while providing access to an enhanced offering.
Vousden continued: "It’s another important step in the continued development of our UK network and our ability to provide customers with a genuinely comprehensive materials handling solution.”
”The acquisition is the latest step in Stacatruc’s continued growth strategy, supported by investment from YFM Equity Partners, as the business expands its geographical reach and strengthens its materials handling capabilities across the UK.”
Dan Freed, partner at YFM, added: "Since we backed Stacatruc’s management buyout in 2024, the team has continued to deliver on its growth plans.”
"Northern Handling Systems is a strong strategic fit, combining valuable local knowledge and customer relationships with Stacatruc’s national scale and wider service offering. We look forward to supporting Paul and the team as they continue to expand the business.”
