RS Industrial Services (RSIS), a Billingham-based crane management and lifting specialist, has acquired Sheffield-based counterpart ACDC Cranes Limited in a deal supported by investment from the Foresight Group.
ACDC Cranes provides specialised 24/7 breakdown support, overhead crane repairs and lifting equipment inspections. The deal brings the firm’s highly skilled workforce into the wider RSIS business, while establishing an operational hub for the group in Sheffield.
Post-acquisition, ACDC’s clients are expected to benefit from the group’s crane parts supply chain and enhanced resources. The transaction will provide RSIS with a base from which to introduce its expertise into a new region.
The acquisition of ACDC is RSIS’s first bolt-on acquisition since securing investment from Foresight Group in 2024. The group’s Chief Executive Mark Cawley called ACDC “a fantastic business with an exceptional operational profile that aligns perfectly with our core values of safety, rapid response, and technical excellence.”
Cawley continued: "With the backing of the Foresight Group, we are not just expanding our geographic footprint; we are combining our engineering expertise to reinforce our position as a market leading service within the UK overhead cranes & lifting industry" -
Foresight Group Senior Investment Manager Andy Rice added: “ACDC is a high-quality business with an experienced team and a strong customer reputation. This acquisition is an excellent strategic fit and demonstrates the strength of RSIS as an acquisitive platform in the crane and lifting sector.”
"We look forward to supporting the ACDC team as part of the wider group and helping the combined business deliver its next phase of growth."
ACDC Cranes founder Nicky Turner said that joining RSIS would provide the company “with the scale, resources and expertise to accelerate its growth, while creating new opportunities for the business, our people and customers”, adding that it would enable the firm to provide customers with an enhanced level of service and support.
