A Midlands-based estate agency, lettings and property management business has acquired the business and assets of a Shropshire property services company out of administration.
The acquisition of the business and assets of Martin-Saunders Property Services, trading as Cobb Amos, by Nock Deighton (1831) builds on the buyer’s longstanding desire to expand its business across South Shropshire and into Herefordshire.
Cobb Amos, which was established in 1998, offers support in property sales, valuations, residential lettings and property management. The firm operates from four high street branches across the region, with locations in Ludlow, Knighton, Leominster and Hereford.
Post-acquisition, Cobb Amos will retain its existing brand name, with the company’s branch teams remaining in place. Nock Deighton said that additional resources would be provided to the company and that it would maintain continuity for its existing clients.
The company’s administration came following a period in which it faced challenging conditions and rising operational costs, leading it to seek early specialist advice from PKF Smith Cooper's Business Recovery and Restructuring team.
Dean Nelson and Emily Oliver from PKF Smith Cooper were subsequently appointed as joint administrators of Martin-Saunders Property Services Limited on September 22 2026. The PKF Smith Cooper team worked with Lewis Onions and Lauren Hartigan-Pritchard of Higgs LLP, acting on behalf of the sellers.
Dean Nelson, joint administrator and head of Business Recovery & Restructuring at PKF Smith Cooper, said: "We are delighted to have supported Martin-Saunders Property Services Limited in achieving a successful outcome that safeguards the future of the business and its employees.”
“The transaction provides a strong platform for continued service to clients and landlords, while giving the team the opportunity to move forward with confidence.”
Nelson added: "This outcome also highlights the value of seeking specialist advice at an early stage, which can help businesses identify and pursue positive solutions during periods of financial pressure.”
In accounts for the year to December 31 2024, Martin-Saunders Property Services Limited’s fixed assets were valued at around £116,000 and current assets at slightly over £133,000. However, the company’s net liabilities stood at just under £311,000 at the time.
