Castle Green Hotel, an established four-star Lake District hotel featuring a two-AA-rosette restaurant, has been brought to market for £10 million. The sale of the Kendal-based hotel follows a strategic review by shareholders, as they seek to refocus on different business interests.
The hotel is set within approximately 14 acres on the outskirts of Kendal and comprises 99 bedrooms, in addition to extensive conference and function facilities, a leisure club, two restaurants and a dedicated business and training space.
Castle Green’s food and beverage offering includes the 90-cover Greenhouse Restaurant and 60-cover Alexanders restaurant, as well as the Greenhouse bar and lounge, which provides seating for 62 guests.
The Pulse leisure club features gym and spa facilities and has a strong external membership base. The wider site offers extensive grounds, outdoor leisure activities and parking.
The hotel operates under the Best Western Premier Collection and is currently operated by a third-party management company alongside an in-house team. Legacy Hotels & Resorts provides management under the Best Western membership.
Stephen Broome, director of the hotel-owning companies, described Castle Green as a “particularly strong regional hotel, combining an established trading business with an attractive location at the gateway to the Lake District.”
He continued: "Its scale, facilities and diverse customer base make it an appealing proposition for investors looking to acquire a substantial hotel operation in one of the UK’s leading leisure destinations.”
The marketing of the hotel is being managed by the hotels agency team at Colliers. Julian Troup, head of UK Hotels Agency at Colliers, said that the Lake District continues to attract strong leisure demand, while Kendal’s connectivity ensures “an important year-round corporate and events market.”
Troup continued: "Castle Green benefits from both, alongside its extensive grounds and established leisure and conference offering, creating a compelling opportunity for a new owner to take the business forward.”
