Three community pharmacies in Cheshire and the West Midlands have been acquired out of administration following a confidential sales process with business property adviser Christie & Co.
Westminster Park Pharmacy and Owens Chemist, both in Chester, and A Karims Pharmacy in Walsall, fell into administration earlier this month, with FRP Advisory appointed as administrator. All three had closed prior to the acquisition.
The pharmacies have now been acquired by RJR Chem Limited, following a confidential sales process run by Jonathan Board at Christie & Co. Led by brothers Jaspal and Ricky Rahania, RJR Chem Limited is an independently owned pharmacy chain and vaccination provider.
The acquisition is described as demonstrating the company’s confidence in investment in community pharmacies, with the deal further expanding its capacity to deliver accessible, patient-centric services across Cheshire and the West Midlands.
Shaun Hudson, partner at FRP Advisory and joint administrator of Ph4rmacy Ltd and Salrook Healthcare Ltd, said: "Pharmacies play a crucial role in both the UK healthcare system and on the community high street, so we are pleased to have once again partnered with the market-leading specialists Christie & Co to secure a new home for these sites."
RJR Chem Limited co-owner Jaspal Rahania said: "We are delighted to acquire these sites and look forward to integrating them into our existing group, where we have a group motto of combining traditional pharmacy practices with cutting-edge technology."
Christie & Co director and Head of Pharmacy Jonathan Board said that the transaction ensured that the “much-needed community pharmacies are reopened to the patients and communities who rely on them, as quickly as possible.”
He continued: "Working closely with Shaun Hudson and Ian Corfield from leading specialist corporate advisory firm, FRP Advisory, our accelerated sale process has found a range of highly experienced potential buyers.”
Board added that the deal demonstrated “the resilience of the UK pharmacy sector and the opportunities for growth for well-capitalised purchasers."
