Expressions of interest in the assets of a popular hotel and music venue in County Tyrone are being sought after the company behind the site fell into liquidation. The Mellon Country Inn, on the outskirts of Omagh, is regarded as one of the best-known hospitality venues in Tyrone.
The family-run establishment has been a fixture of the community for decades, hosting concerts, weddings and community gatherings, among other events. The venue has been described as occupying a unique position within the area’s tourism and hospitality industry, with strong recognition across the region.
MAH (Tyrone) Limited, whose principal asset is the Mellon Country Inn, has now been placed into liquidation, with a process for the disposal and sale of the company’s assets set to open from the end of September.
The agent overseeing the sale commented: "The Mellon Country Inn is a well-established and highly recognisable property with significant heritage and commercial appeal. Our immediate priority is to conduct an orderly liquidation process while seeking to maximise value for creditors.”
"Already there has been considerable interest in the property from a wide range of parties. Given its location, scale and profile, we anticipate interest from both hospitality operators as well as developers who can recognise its future potential."
The sale process is expected to attract substantial interest due to the venue’s strong brand recognition and prominent location, with potential buyers including hospitality operators looking to re-establish the site as a hotel and events destination, or developers considering alternative uses, such as residential property.
The liquidator for MAH (Tyrone) Limited commented: "Our objective is to ensure a transparent and professional sales process that delivers the best possible outcome for all stakeholders. We would be pleased to hear from any parties interested in the property."
In accounts for the year to February 28 2025, MAH (Tyrone) Limited’s fixed assets were valued at around £985,000 and current assets at slightly under £30,000. Net liabilities, however, totalled close to £630,000.
