Administrators are inviting interest from potential buyers following the collapse of a longstanding Worcestershire-based supplier and distributor of horticultural products. BHGS Limited, which was incorporated in 2001 but has a history dating back more than 100 years, fell into administration earlier this month.
The company operates from sites in Evesham, Hayle and Chichester, primarily catering for commercial growers but also supplying private and public gardens, allotment and garden associations, councils and retail customers.
According to administrators, the company had faced significant trading losses and increasing cash flow pressures, which forced directors to ultimately file for administration. The company was placed into administration on September 22 2026 but is currently continuing to trade.
One of the joint administrators for the company commented: "After exploring various options to find the best route forward for the business, the directors of BHGS have been left with no choice but to make the difficult decision to file for administration.”
"This decision followed a period of trading losses and mounting cash flow pressures. This is a very challenging time for the business, and everyone concerned would like to see a positive conclusion, if possible.”
In accounts for the 18 months ending June 30 2025, the company reported turnover of close to £30.2 million, compared to around £17.3 million in the year ending December 31 2025, but fell from an operating profit of approximately £213,000 to a loss of £228,000.
At the time, its fixed assets were valued at approximately £369,000 and current assets at £6.2 million, while net assets totalled £2.1 million.
The joint administrators are now in the process of conducting a thorough review of the business and its operations in order to determine the best route forward and have urged potentially interested parties to make contact as soon as possible.
