Leading estate agency group LRG has expanded its presence in the South of England with the acquisition of one of the region’s longest-established property brands. Henry Adams, which operates across Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire, traces its origins to Wyatt & Son, which was founded in Chichester in 1826.
Since rebranding as Henry Adams in 1990, the company has established itself as a prominent and trusted property brand across the region, with 12 branches in Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire, including two franchise branches which will be retained by LRG under their existing franchise agreements.
Post-acquisition, Henry Adams will continue to operate under its existing name, with the current leadership and local teams remaining in place, providing continuity for clients and colleagues throughout the business.
Managing Director Ian Wiggett will continue to lead the firm, alongside Head of Residential Sales Gareth Overton, supported by the existing management team.
Matthew Light, Group Mergers & Acquisitions Director at LRG, commented: “Henry Adams is an exceptional regional business with a long and distinguished history, an experienced team and a brand that is recognised and trusted across Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire.”
“It’s a brand I have long admired for its reputation, built on strong local knowledge, long-standing client relationships, and a clear commitment to service, making it a very strong addition to LRG.”
“We understand how important the Henry Adams name and identity are to its clients and its people. The brand, local teams and existing leadership will remain in place, with LRG providing the wider investment, resources and support to help the business continue to grow. The acquisition significantly strengthens our presence across the South of England and creates opportunities to extend the Henry Adams brand into new areas over time.”
Henry Adams Managing Director Ian Wiggett said that, when considering the long-term future of the business, the priority was to select a partner that understood the business and “recognised the importance of protecting its name, people and reputation.”
He continued: “LRG shared that commitment from the outset. For our clients and teams, it will be business as usual, with the same local leadership, colleagues and approach to service. At the same time, becoming part of LRG gives us access to the investment, resources and expertise needed to support the next stage of our growth.”
“It will create new opportunities for the Henry Adams brand, as well as greater training, development and career progression for our people.”
